Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and matLearn (“matLearn”, “we”, “us”) governing your use of the matLearn mobile and web applications (the “Service”), an AI-powered study companion for students preparing for the Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) and the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

The Service is intended for secondary-school students and their guardians. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You may delete your account and associated data at any time from Profile → Privacy & Security → Delete Account in the app.

3. AI-generated content

The Service uses third-party AI services (including Google AI) to generate explanations, quizzes, and other study materials. AI output can be inaccurate or incomplete and is provided for study assistance only. It is not a substitute for your official syllabus, your teachers, or professional advice. Verify important information against authoritative sources.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and auto-renewal

matLearn offers auto-renewable subscriptions in two tiers, billed monthly or annually through your Apple ID:

• Standard — core study tools: AI tutor conversations, quizzes, flashcards, mind maps, and audio overviews.
• Premium — everything in Standard, plus mock exam papers with marking and priority response times.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription, and turn off auto-renewal, in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. The current price and billing period are shown in the app before you purchase. Prices may change with notice as permitted by the App Store.

Any unused portion of a free trial, if offered, is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything unlawful or to infringe others’ rights.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Use automated means to access the Service beyond normal app usage.
• Submit content you do not have the right to submit.

6. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software and design, is owned by matLearn and its licensors. Study materials you generate are yours to use for personal, non-commercial study.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, matLearn is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on AI-generated content.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect; continued use after changes means you accept them.
